Frequently Asked Questions.

What’s this gonna cost me?

is freewheeling free?

Cost and Payment

To send you freewheeling, we charge a simple fee based on what we plan or book for you:

You give us your total travel budget and we’ll work within it. We’ll provide you with an estimate before you pay anything - the estimate details out the cost of airfare, and any extras you want us to surprise you with, as well as our service fee.

You give us the go ahead and provide payment for the agreed amount through our secure site. We’ll do the booking and send you confirmations (with details hidden!) and a link to your secret itinerary.

Can I tell you where I do not want to go?

Location Preferences & Your “DO Not Fly List”

We understand that there are some places you simply cannot or will not visit. Whether it be for spiritual reasons, personal safety, or because you’ve already been there a million times, we absolutely respect your wishes to avoid certain places. We’ll ask you for a list of specific places you don’t want to go before we book anything.

Will everything be planned out?

Itinerary

We’ll book your transportation (flights, train, and/or rental car). We’ll provide you with a sample “Surprise Game Plan” full of recommendations.

In general the rest is up to you.

(yes, you find your own lodging and activities last minute, that’s freewheeling!)

If truly freewheeling and booking your hotel last minute feels too unnerving, we can chat about our options. If you prefer, we can book part or all of your lodging and other services (ie restaurant reservations) ahead of time. This is done on a custom basis after discussions on the phone about preferences and budget.

If you feel up for it, we highly recommend freewheeling it and finding your own adventure and lodging when you go! Don’t worry, our “Surprise Game Plan” provides tons of great recommendations!

How will we get there?

Transportation Options

Most of the time, we’ll book you a flight to your destination. If you’re opposed to flying, your budget doesn’t have space for flights, or you’d simply like to try something new, there are lots of other ways to go on an adventure.

If you’d prefer ground transportation, let us know. We’d love to send you freewheeling by train, boat, car, or in a fully furnished camper van.

Where will we sleep?

Lodging

Most freewheelers prefer the adventure of finding a place to stay on their own in the moment! Some want us to book lodging ahead of time. If we reserve lodging, we book your stay in hotels or bed & breakfasts based on your preferences. If you would like to try out an alternative stay, we can look for a treehouse, yurt, furnished camper, or even a campsite for you. Any lodging decisions we make will be based on your preferences through thorough communication and discussion with you. You’ll be comfy.

How will we get around while we’re there?

Rental Car, Bikes, Public Transportation

We’ll give you the option to have a rental car booked ahead of time. Many freewheelers like to play this part by ear — depending on where they end up, they may take rideshare/taxi, public transportation, walk, or rent a bike.

We will make sure you have safe transportation options available to get easily and comfily around while you’re at your destination.

What will we do?

Activity and Relaxation

Most freewheelers like to find their flow of activity and relaxation on their own once they arrive somewhere.

If you’d like us to, we can reserve or book one activity, tour, concert, or spa service for you. Let us know what you’re hoping to experience.

Can my kid freewheel too?

Family Friendly Freewheeling

What better way to bond with your kiddos than to experience some surprise and explore new places together?! Let us know if you’re planning to bring anyone under the age of 18 on your freewheeling adventure so we can tailor the experience to be easy, secure, and fun for everyone.

Can I get a hint?

I want to know what to pack…

“Degree of Surprise”

Most people prefer the element of TOTAL surprise.

If that’s not you, let us know, we can let you know if you need to pack a parka or sandals.
